Underwriter - Insurance MGA - Base Salary to 100k/year - Houston, TX

• Our client, an MGA/Carrier is looking for an Underwriter to join their team. Our client specializes in niche insurance programs & partners with multiple carriers in both admitted and surplus lines insurance markets. They craft coverage solutions for a broad range of residential property risks — from vacant and rental properties to storm, flood, general liability, and lender-placed programs.
• The Underwriter will be responsible for driving profitable growth across their property and specialty insurance portfolios.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and underwrite insurance submissions in accordance with company and carrier guidelines, focusing on specialty property and related lines.
  
• Analyze risk characteristics, inspection data, valuation metrics, and coverage terms to determine appropriate pricing and terms.
  
• Collaborate with producers, agents, and internal teams to secure coverage that meets client needs while aligning to appetite and profitability targets.
  
• Maintain accurate risk records and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and carrier underwriting standards.
  
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and suggest enhancements to underwriting practices and guidelines.
  
• Provide technical support and clear communication to producers regarding coverage decisions, conditions, and risk considerations.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of property & casualty underwriting experience, preferably with property, surplus lines, or niche programs
  
• Understanding of underwriting principles, risk evaluation, and basic insurance pricing
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with rating tools or underwriting systems a plus

Compensation:

• Base salary up to 100k/year (flexible dependent on experience) plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401k, Roth, generous PTO, paid holidays, etc. Flexibility for hybrid if not in Houston, TX.
