    About the Underwriter position

    M2 Lending Solutions is looking for an experienced DE-certified underwriter with proven expertise to join our team! You will utilize agency and secondary market guidelines to provide pinpoint expertise for excellent customer service and sellable loans. This work includes providing clear notes and documentation for the processors to gather more information when needed, utilizing outstanding problem-solving skills, and supporting the organization as the resident guideline expert. Your work will contribute to the company's reputation, profitability, and ability to provide a superior loan experience to our customers.

    This is a salary plus bonus opportunity position. The bonus structure is based on SLA's that drive quality, excellent customer service, and overall team performance. Full benefits package included.

    Underwriter responsibilities are:

    • Underwrite loans following all investor, government, and agency guidelines
    • Review loan information in Encompass and thoroughly review the AUS findings
    • Analyze and calculate income including the analysis of tax returns to calculate complex income for self-employed borrowers
    • Complete all underwriting functions per various program requirements, company standards, and related legal and regulatory requirements
    • Confirm documentation, reports, and files are complete and accurate
    • Certify all conditions have been satisfactorily met before closing
    • Exercise good judgment, issue quality decisions with little to no eligibility defect(s)
    • Maintain underwriting timelines to ensure all loan timelines are met
    • Maintain current knowledge of underwriting requirements and policies, investor guidelines, and governmental guidelines, communicating changes and potential impacts on customer service and sellable loans to sales and operations teams
    • Offer alternative solutions based on guidelines and experience
    • Offer counter approvals
    • Work with the leadership team to incorporate needed process changes based on guideline changes

    Underwriter requirements are:

    • Hybrid option after initial 90 days in person at Denver office, 75% in-person at Denver office, 25% remote
    • Must have FHA DE Chums number
    • 4+ years' experience underwriting FHA and conforming loans
    • 2+ years' experience with non-agency jumbo programs, guidelines, and underwriting standards
    • 2+ years' experience working in Encompass
    • Proficient in the guidelines and requirements of the FHA, FNMA, FHLMC programs
    • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong time-management and high-level organization skills, especially with fluctuating loan volume
    • Excellent time management and project management skills
    • Passionate about teamwork and customer service
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
    • High school diploma or equivalent
