    As an Underwriter , you will play a pivotal role in our operations by evaluating and approving funding applications for merchant cash advances. This in-office position, based in Brooklyn, NY, requires a keen analytical mind and a strong understanding of low-risk financial assessments. You'll work closely with our expert team to ensure that funding decisions align with our conservative risk profile, avoiding high-risk scenarios to protect both our firm and our clients. This role demands precision, quick thinking, and a proactive approach in a fast-paced environment where your contributions directly impact business success stories.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct thorough reviews of merchant cash advance applications, analyzing financial statements, credit reports, bank records, and business performance metrics to assess viability and risk.
    • Perform detailed underwriting for low-risk funding requests, ensuring all advances comply with internal guidelines and regulatory standards while minimizing exposure to high-risk merchants.
    • Collaborate with sales and funding teams to discuss application details, provide feedback on offers, and facilitate same-day approvals where appropriate.
    • Manage syndication processes for approved loans, including allocating budgets for partnerships and coordinating with external syndicators to expand funding opportunities.
    • Monitor ongoing portfolio performance, identifying trends and recommending adjustments to underwriting criteria to maintain a low-risk focus.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and records for all underwriting decisions, contributing to efficient office workflows and compliance.
    • Stay updated on industry trends in merchant cash advances, applying best practices to enhance decision-making in our super-efficient operational setup.

    Qualifications

    • 1-2 years of solid experience in merchant cash advance underwriting, with a proven track record of handling low-risk evaluations (high-risk MCA experience is not applicable here).
    • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment, and data interpretation.
    • Excellent attention to detail and a good work mentality, including the ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-efficiency office environment.
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, but equivalent professional experience will be considered.
    • Proficiency in relevant software tools for underwriting and financial analysis.
    • Ability to work full-time in our Brooklyn office, with a commitment to in-person collaboration in a great team atmosphere.
    • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external partners.

    Compensation

    Salary is commensurate with experience, starting at approximately $100,000 annually, with potential for higher based on demonstrated expertise in low-risk MCA underwriting. In addition to base salary, the role includes a dedicated budget for initiating and managing syndication on loans, providing opportunities for performance-based growth.
