    Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, In-Office, Non-Remote, 8 Hour Shift, M-F

    Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year, Bonus Opportunities ****

    The Underwriting Specialist position is responsible for providing exceptional internal customer service while reviewing Borrower and Co-Borrower applications to determine their eligibility by analyzing credit scores and the company's risk potential. Our ideal candidate should demonstrate an understanding of compliance; possess excellent analytical and logical thinking along with problem-solving skills; and have strong attention to detail with the ability to handle complex projects. ****

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure policies, procedures and borrower file documentation are followed as related to underwriting within each department (Sales, Processing, Loan Acquisition, Servicing, Auditing, etc)
    • Ensures all processes are within compliance of underwriting guidelines and requirements
    • Participate and assist in system testing, validation, and implementation
    • Process document file by reviewing and completing income calculations and credit bureau reports, and processing denial letters.
    • Monitor escrow accounts
    • Maintains underwriting statistics for Sales, Processing, Loan Acquisitions, and Finance to provide end-of-month, quarter, and year documentation and support
    • Attend all meetings and trainings courses as required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Education and Experience

    • Associate degree strongly preferred
    • One (1) year experience preferred in underwriting is preferred
    • Experience in student lending field is preferred, but not mandatory
    • Previous experience in Quality Control and compliance is welcomed, and translates well to this role
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
    • Previous experience with reading and analyzing Credit Bureau Reports

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
