Job Description

The digital advertising teams build, maintain, and expand on one of the largest digital advertising footprints in the industry. As a software engineering intern you will have the opportunity to work with one or multiple of our various teams such as Ad Execution, Ad Infrastructure and Services, Ad Optimization, and more. Interns will be responsible for new development and maintenance of existing software solutions under the guidance of senior developers.  Software Engineering Interns are contributors to all steps within the SDLC including functional and non-functional requirements gathering/validation, analysis, testing and implementation. We believe that interns should be exposed to true production coding problems and provide opportunities to have an impact on the organization now and moving forward. Some examples of past intern projects include a mobile application for ad testing, production dashboards to monitor and review data from our exchange partners, and the initial implementation of our creative registration service. All of these projects are still used in some form today.

We work in a variety of technologies such as Scala, Java, Python and C++ as well as using tools such as Kafka, Kubernetes, and Thrift/Rest/OpenAPI. Our data is accessed via Spark and stored on our Hadoop cluster and Postgres databases.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Work alongside one or more of our talented engineering teams to develop best in class advertising systems and products.
• Coordinate with other engineering, analytics, and operations teams to build and improve our advertising products
• Collaborate and learn from experienced engineers in a real world development environment
• Gain exposure to a wide variety of technologies and tools utilized by our teams

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

• Experience with Scala, Java or Python
• Experience with Postgres or similar databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL)
• Familiarity with Spark is a plus
• Familiarity with build automation and container management tools is a plus
• Able to creatively solve problems involving large datasets and optimize for efficient execution
• Capable of diving into complex datasets to find answers to questions
• Excited about working in a fast-paced environment with a lot of experimentation and moving parts
