Covia is looking for a dynamic Maintenance Planner who will have a
positive impact on the Operations team at its Portage, WI location. The
role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity
and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through
planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts,
materials, and equipment access. Responsibilities include planning,
coordination and cost estimation of all planned maintenance activities
performed at the site.
THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- With limited supervision, coordinate with site maintenance
supervisors to coordinate work with the production department and
ensure that all equipment and machinery are functioning to
full capacity. Prepare work packages for every planned maintenance
activity inclusive of repetitive maintenance.
- Plan and arrange activities related with equipment maintenance to
enhance equipment and plant accessibility and competence supporting
site production supplies. Coordinate daily as well as weekly
planning meetings related with maintenance.
- Support department’s compliance to any Lean Manufacturing goals
and objectives. Provide assistance to engineering for spare parts
preparation and PM Lists for new equipment. Provide technical
assistance for supporting entire on-site maintenance activities.
- Provide Safety Leadership through regular safety inspections of
maintenance activities. Observe and reinforce safe work behaviors
and participate in crew safety meetings. Ensure timely investigation
and report on all safety incidents. Ensure compliance with accident
report recommendations to prevent further occurrences.
- Provide leadership and co-ordinate teamwork between Operations
personnel (i.e. Plant staff), other supervisors (i.e. Safety &
Health, Quality Control, Environmental, Shipping, Purchasing
and Administration).
- Maintain liaison with individuals and groups within and
outside Covia with responsibility for acting independently on
technical matters pertaining to the job function.
- Manage the Portage plant’s materials and supplies inventory at an
optimum level as determined by Corporate Warehousing Policy.
- Be responsible for the Portage plant’s storeroom activities,
security and housekeeping.
- Maintain technical skills by utilizing available training resources.
- Function in a professional manner and in accordance with
departmental procedures.
- Provide periodic reports of activities to management.
- Continually evaluate personal and work processes with continuous
improvement as the objective. Identify innovative concepts and
approaches directed toward improving Unimin Operations
optimization processes.
- Function in a professional manner and in accordance with
departmental procedures.
- Provide technical support through project assignments, training, or
other means to plants in support of their implementation of
continuous improvement systems.
- Provide technical training to plant and other staff personnel on
engineering subjects.
- Participate in the development of Engineering Standards (as needed).
- Develop and maintain skills in the use of personal computers in
engineering work to improve accuracy, productivity, and
professionalism in all work products.
- Ensure that high standards of engineering design, materials, and
construction are maintained in all Unimin work. Ensure that Unimin
Engineering Standards are consistently and uniformly used.
- Administer all Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Travel as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 year engineering, equivalent professional experience or
participation in the Covia New Graduate Training Program.
- B.Sc. or equivalent degree in an Engineering discipline.
