  • Responsibilities

    CLOSING DATE & TIME:  SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 AT 4:00PM PACIFIC TIME.

    Under general supervision (Distribution Operator II), to direction (Distribution Operator III) the incumbent inspects, operates, maintains, services and performs operational repairs to facilities and equipment used in the storage, treatment and distribution of potable and reclaimed water. 

    Required Skills

    Requires the ability to operate a variety of pumping, treatment, control and transmission equipment and machinery, including digital control equipment; accurately read and interpret meters, gauges, valve books, blueprints and schematic drawings; make mathematical calculations, including metrics; understand and follow oral and written instructions; prepare basic records and reports of work performed; operate and maintain hand and power tools pertaining to the work; safety practices and procedures pertaining to the work; operate SCBA, chlorine leak detector, gas detector, fall arrest system, and ventilation equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.

    Required Experience

    Any combination  of experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying, along with the specific licenses/certifications as outlined below:

    EDUCATION:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

     

    EXPERIENCE:  Operator II two (2) years, or Operator III three (3) years, of experience  operating and maintaining pumps and valves similar to those used in a large water distribution system, including one (1) year as a Distribution Operator I (for Operator II) or a Distribution Operator II (for Operator III) with the District.

     

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:  Requires a valid California drivers license, and the ability to maintain insurability under the Districts Vehicle Insurance Policy. Distribution Operator II requires: State of California Certifications Grade D2 and T1. Distribution Operator III requires: State of California Certifications Grade D3 and T2.
