  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a smart, driven and motivated individual to join our team as the Director/Senior Director, Hardware and Systems Engineering. The successful candidate will lead the development of diagnostic instrumentation and will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development of robotic systems, thermal systems and instrument consumables.

     

    This position will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead end-to-end product development cycles of complex diagnostic instrumentation.
    • Lead end-to-end product development cycles of consumable components and assemblies.
    • Serve as the primary interface for outside design resources.
    • Drive system migration through collaboration and engagement with the assay development team.
    • Drive system verification and validation activities.
    • Drive design transfer activities of new and existing instrumentation.
    • Provide leadership to a dynamic and experienced engineering team across multiple disciplines.
    • Participate in problem solving and take a deep dive into technical challenges as needed.

     

    DESIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • B.S./M.S in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
    • 8 plus years of industry experience, preferably with in vitro diagnostics.
    • Must have excellent analysis and design skills, along with the ability to perform hands-on debug of complex electromechanical systems.
    • Experience in an FDA or ISO 13485 environment is strongly preferred.
    • Experience taking a product into production as a primary contributor on a team or as a project lead strongly preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, along with demonstrated successful track record of managing outside technical resources.
    • Experience balancing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
    • Must be driven to achieve excellence in technical results and progress against goals and schedules.
    • Knowledge of and direct experience designing and optimizing robotic systems that handle plastic consumables required.
    • Experience troubleshooting the relationship between Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
    • Experience managing external design and manufacturing vendors.
    • Electromechanical /electronic control systems design and integration experience.
    • Experience in proposing and evaluating system architectures.
    • Skilled at using SolidWorks.

    • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling applications including Primavera and Microsoft Project scheduling software*
    • Able to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and scopes of work*
    • Decision making, research and analytical problem solving skills*
    • Time management with the ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently*
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization*
    • Certified Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) as administered by AACE
