Purchasing Manager
Salary Exempt Position
SUMMARY: This position will develop purchasing strategies, maintain positive relationships with suppliers, coordinates with internal teams regarding their supply needs and oversee the purchasing team in their daily activities.
JOB TITLE: Purchasing Manager
REPORTS TO: COO
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage the purchasing process including the buying, selling and distributions aspects of the company
· Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
· Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
· Analyze existing purchasing processes for performance
· Implement improvements to existing purchasing processes and delivery systems
· Handle contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers
· Identify ideal suppliers based on quality, cost and reliability
· Maintain a good rapport with the company's clientele
QUALIFICATIONS::
· 5-10 year’s experience, and/or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
· Prior experience working in the purchasing department in the same industry
· KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS LAW, PURCHASING MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS, SUB-CONTRACTING, STEEL MARKET, GRADES OF STEEL, ASTM SPECIFICATIONS, HOT DIP GALVANIZING, PAINTING, POWDER COATING, MACHINING, WELDING, FABRICATION, STRUCTURAL HARDWARE, ALUMINUM, STEEL AND IRON CASTINGS.
· Strong understanding of the market conditions and trends
· Working knowledge of negotiation techniques in the industry
· Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build a good rapport
· Positive and professional demeanor
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Great team player
