About
Union Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered, boots-on-the-ground response to homelessness in Los Angeles—serving men, women, and families through emergency care, recovery and discipleship, housing, and long-term stability. Founded in 1891, URM is one of the nation’s largest and most trusted rescue missions, known for dignifying care and bold innovation on Skid Row. If you’re moved by ministry that pairs compassionate presence with measurable impact, this is the kind of organization that lets your leadership matter—immediately and at scale.
Opportunity
Join Union Rescue Mission and help shape the operational heartbeat of one of the nation's largest and most respected Christ-centered rescue missions. As Vice President of Operations, you'll serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the CEO to ensure that the Mission's campuses, facilities, and operational infrastructure faithfully support life-changing ministry to thousands of men, women, and children experiencing homelessness throughout Los Angeles.
This is far more than a facilities or maintenance leadership role. It is an opportunity to build high-performing teams, strengthen organizational systems, guide strategic capital and facility initiatives, and create operational excellence that enables every program, every employee, and every guest to thrive. For a servant leader who is energized by solving complex challenges, developing people, and advancing a Christ-centered mission through exceptional operational leadership, this role offers the rare opportunity to make a lasting impact both inside the organization and in the lives of those it serves.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Union Rescue Mission's Maintenance, Custodial, and Health & Safety functions across the San Pedro campus and its two satellite locations, Hope Gardens and Angeles House. This executive is responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of all facilities, maintaining organizational assets, implementing comprehensive preventative and routine maintenance programs, and overseeing the staffing, coordination, and execution of operational activities, procedures, and events that support the Mission's ministry and services.
Core Work Principle
