Job Description
Knowledge of B&W, C-41 and RA-4 machine processes, inkjet printing, and Adobe Photoshop, preferred. Salary commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Opens and reads customer orders; labels and sorts film according to type and processing services required.
· Removes film from cartridges in darkroom.
· Develops film to negative stage, checks quality of negatives, and forwards negatives to printing department.
· Produces prints in the size and quantities ordered.
· Checks for quality and color, and reprints if necessary.
· Calculates price and packages orders for customer shipment or pickup.
· Produces copies and enlargements from negatives according to special orders.
· Alternates with co-workers between actual photographic development and staffing the customer service counter.
· Customer service duties include writing out orders, delivering processed orders, collecting money, discussing customer complaints, and making sales of associated products such as film, albums, and frames.
· Monitors and replenishes chemical supplies and photographic paper as needed. Is responsible for the neat appearance of the darkroom workstation.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May receive on-the-job training in photographic retouching and restoration and expand duties to include more skilled tasks.
Qualifications
· Language skills sufficient to write out customer orders and to read special processing instructions.
· Mathematical skills sufficient to calculate prices for photo-processing orders.
· Near vision acuity and color discrimination judgment sufficient to monitor quality of prints.
· Willingness to work a variable schedule. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
