    The finishing machine operator is responsible for the operation of their assigned gluing machine. While operating that machine, they are responsible to run quality cartons at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime. The machine operator is the leader of the crew and oversees the activities of the operator assistants (feeder / packers) working on that machine.

    The operator must obtain and review the job ticket for items, quantities, caliper of the board and any special instruction that is informational for running the order. The case packing specification must also be reviewed to make sure that all the instructions are clear and concise prior to running the order. The operator is responsible for ensuring that all make readies are put on as quickly as possible.

    The operator inspects for product quality including: folded score caliper, proper gluing and stacking, carton and score alignment, case fit and ensures that the machine is in good running condition. The operator ensures that the Leary glue and mix detection system is constantly functioning correctly. The operator is also responsible for shutting down the machine if it is to be left unattended. This position reports to the Finishing Lead, Shift Supervisor, and Finishing Manager.

    Will train to be an operator if you only possess minimal experience. Would start at a slightly lower rate and work up quickly.
