    JOB SUMMARY:

    Safety is a top priority, assuring that work is produced in accordance with operating targets. He or she ensures compliance with established customer quality and production standards. They understand and align plant operations & production with the Customer Support group as he/she executes their role in the overall order fulfillment process to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.  The job functions include but are not limited to the following:

     

    • Acts as primary back up to the Converting Mgr. and Plant Manager.
    • Learns all aspects of customer service, order entering, scheduling loads, inventory management.
    • Learns all aspects of purchasing and inventorying raw materials.
    • Learns financial and budget requirements for the plant.
    • Learns and keeps all data and supporting information entered into corporate computer programs as needed.
    • Learns and keeps maintenance records reported in a timely manner on all corporate computer sites as necessary.
    • Manages and oversees training assignments for all department employees and ensures timely completion
    • Utilizes knowledge and experience to provide training to team members.
    • Helps team achieve goals.
    • Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment.
    • Encourages and leads team members to work in a safe manner and to seek improvement in work practices for their benefit.
    • Develops and implements safety procedures to achieve departmental and plant safety goals.
    • Assures that the team maintains quality standards.
    • Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and overall productivity meets or exceeds established standards.
    • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, quality, safety incidents and overall continuous improvement of products and processes) as required.
    • Leads ongoing training, safety training and environmental training activities for site.
    • Leads plant safety committee team meetings and activities, creating a safety culture that promotes and recognizes employee engagement.
    • Maintains/Implements location and company health and safety programs to identify and reduce risk.
    • Compiles required HSE tracking, report and metrics.
    • Participates in corporate level HSE initiatives and calls.
    • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Strong Leadership Skills.
    • Leadership experience and/or attributes, including the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Proficient computer skills, including excel, email and data entry
    • Visual Color Discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • College Degree Preferred
    • High School Diploma Preferred
    • 3-5 years of production management preferred
    • Paperboard packaging experiencing preferred

     

    COLOR MANAGEMENT

    • Successfully passing a vision assessment

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

    • WORK SCHEDULE

      • Must be able to work any shift.
      • Must be able to work frequent overtime as required.
      • Must be able to perform the job in the physical plant location.

      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to dust, heat, cold, and potential work hazards.
      • The noise level in the work environment is loud.
      • Temperature in the plant is fluctuating due to external temperatures. The plant is non climate controlled.
      • Personal Protective Equipment is required. This includes; steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear protections, and gloves.  Other PPE may be required for specific tasks.
