  • Responsibilities

    Develop and implement plant safety/health programs and plant environmental compliance programs in support of corporate wide guidelines, standards, and applicable regulations. Provide on-site leadership, guidance and assistance to plant staff in achieving superior health/safety and environmental performance. Currently no direct reports.

    • Provide safety/health and environmental expertise to plant staff, including consulting with and providing guidance to all Site Department Managers.
    • Develop and implement safety and health programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety and health standards and in support of Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) safety and health guidelines and minimum safety and health standards.
    • Reviews all written safety programs at least annually for compliance with current OSHA/TOSHA regulations. Update written programs as needed.
    • Develop and implement environmental programs to assure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations and in support of Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) environmental guidelines including but not limited to air permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection and disposal, NPDES and storm water management.
    • Develop, track, analyze and communicate plant safety statistics and plant environmental reporting and statistics including but not limited to hazardous waste generator status, Title V air emissions, SARA 312 and 313 usage and reporting requirements, etc.
    • Coordinate GPI involvement with OSHA/TOSHA and any other regulatory inspections.
    • Organize workload so that applicable regulatory guidelines are met.
    • Continue to increase professional safety and environmental knowledge through reading, training, and conferences. Develop a network of key internal and external safety and environmental contacts.
    • Provide support for incident investigations and return to work program. Ensure corrective action items are completed in a timely manner.
    • Develop and implement Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) program to include behavior based Job Safety Observation auditing process.
    • Utilize existing and new safety-related data and metrics to improve existing and new plant-wide safety programs.
    • Trained in SQF 2000, HACCP
    • Trained or knowledge of SQF prerequisites including GMP, Food Defense, etc.
    • Responsible for the development, implementation, review, maintenance, communications of the SQF 2000 system.
    • Lead and coordinate the Annual plant review of Safe Quality Foods (SQF) system, internal audit /schedule, and Coordinate SQF third party audits
    • Responsible for coordination of SQF type Root Cause/ Corrective Actions activities
    • Validation and Verification of SQF controls with determined frequency/schedule.
    • Establish and maintain Methods/criteria for monitoring, sampling, inspecting, testing, and analyzing raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
      • Review and update training skills requirements for Safe Quality Foods.
        • This position has full responsibility for the development and maintenance of SQF related documents and records.

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, or related field preferred
    • 3-5 years experience in industrial safety, health, environmental compliance, or equivalent experience
