SUMMARY:
The Fuel Analyst position is responsible for the accounting of all aspects of the Company’s Fuel Inventory and for Fuel related reporting and monitoring. The position works closely with our external partners, as well as, our stores and internal departments to safeguard assets and inform of developments impacting Fuel inventories. Monthly, this position is responsible for reporting Fuel Sales, COS, and preparing journal entries and reconciling any fuel related accounts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Ensure completion of all Daily Fuel Processes and adhere to daily/weekly/monthly deadlines
· Perform comparisons between fuel transactions (book) and inventory stock (physical) to identify daily over/shorts and research variances as needed
· Book inventory movements, such as fuel diversions and retains
· Work with retail site analysts to ensure all source document data entry is completed each day
· Maintain supporting documentation for accounting entries to support external audits
· Download and import fuel cost, fuel BOLs, fuel & freight invoices, non-fuel invoices and EFT drafts
· Perform Fuel and Bank Reconciliations
· Closing inventory and running COS at month end close
· Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, analyze and report findings to internal and external stakeholders
· Assist in preparing journal entries for period end, quarter end, and annual closing
· Balance Sheet reconciliations completed monthly
· Assist with month end close and financial statement preparation
· Serve as a subject matter expert on all matters related to Fuel Inventory
· Oversee repair and support needs, coordinate with other departments to ensure matters are resolved timely
· Ensure all fuel processes are executed, issues are resolved
· Prepare ad-hoc reporting as requested or other duties as assigned
_ JOB QUALIFICATIONS:_
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
· Working practical knowledge of Accounting and Inventory
· Goal oriented with a high level of energy and drive for achievement, ability to work in a result oriented, fast paced environment
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
· Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
· Demonstrated ability to support customers and enhance relationships
· Ability to generate thorough, accurate work according to established procedures
· Ability to multi-task and adapt to change, high attention to detail
· Experience in organizing and maintaining complex files
· Ability to work effectively individually and as a team member
· Ability to process large volumes of transactions quickly and accurately – intermediate to advanced user of excel and other Microsoft Office applications
· Ability to maintain confidentiality with proprietary information
· Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
· Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) is a plus
· Experience in general ledger accounting is a plus
· Experience in working for a Retail company is a plus
· Experience in Fuel industry is a plus
