    Job Description

    CARGO CLAIMS SUPERVISOR

     

    JOB SUMMARY The Cargo Claims Supervisor will provide supervision to the Cargo Claims Department to ensure accurate and timely claim processing. This role will analyze each claim based on investigation findings and documentation to determine claim validity to recommend best resolution, including in cases of missing and stolen cargo vehicles and company assets. The Cargo Claims Supervisor aids the Manager of Insurance and Claims and the Risk Department in executing the department’s goals and initiatives.

     

     JOB DUTIES

    • Direct the daily duties of the staff and supervision of the claim analyst team
    • Train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product
    • Document performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions
    • Work closely with analyst to review all claims of issue and document completeness including analysis of photographs, estimates, and statements as available
    • Participate in departmental meetings and provide feedback as needed
    • Interact with insurance company representatives to ensure that claims are handled promptly and professionally
    • Work with assigned attorneys on claim litigations while maintaining complete and accurate lawsuit files and records
    • Track major damage and ensure compliance with customers
    • Communicate incidents, major damage and claim status with customers
    • Analyze, monitor, generate and distribute reports including but not limited to manufacturing aging reports, collection reports, claim status reports, denial turnover rate reports and major damage reports
    • Accountable to achieve quotas and goals as assigned
    • Optimize work processes by identifying trends and investigating and employing best practices with a focus on continuous improvement
    • Other duties assigned as business needs require

     

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    • People management skills

    • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure

    • Proficiency in web-based programs (NADA, MITCHELL GUIDE, OVISS, etc.)

    • Proficient use of Microsoft Products, with emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel and Access

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

    • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

    • Ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations

    • Ability to solve problems and think quickly under pressure

    • Effective oral and written communication skills

    • Process improvement catalyst

    • Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Two (2) years of claims handling experience
    • Four-year college degree preferred
    • One year of supervisory experience in transportation preferred
    • Knowledge of OEM& USED Vehicle claim regulations preferred.
