    The mission of United South End Settlements (USES) is to harness the power of our diverse community to disrupt the cycle of poverty for children and their families. USES believes families have the best chance of reaching their potential when they have long-term, holistic support. Our goal is to empower families in the South End and the surrounding areas to stabilize, achieve economic mobility, and become more resilient through access to resources and connections to a diverse social network. We have integrated our programs and implemented new initiatives to support the whole family, providing children and youth with early childhood education, club48 after-school programs, and Camp Hale, a summer camp on Squam Lake in New Hampshire. We also support parents and caregivers to identify and pursue goals important to their family through one-on-one coaching and provide job training, placement, and career development.     WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Work closely with Director of Early Childhood Education and Out of School Time to develop and implement curriculum with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM)
    • Plan and conduct daily activities for children
    • Incorporate creative play and sustain a care giving environment with fellow teachers
    • Engage with and build rapport with children’s families and conduct parent conferences 
    • Become well versed in other support services offered throughout agency for families
    • Manage and maintain organization, safety, cleanliness, and order of classrooms
    • Observe, record, and report on children progress and behaviors
    • Assist with and contribute to reporting requirements for funders
    • Support and follow nutritional guidelines
    • Complete other duties as assigned
    • Identify opportunities to enhance teaching skills through professional development
    • Must be able to climb, stoop, reach, stand, lift, feel, talk, hear, and be capable of repetitive motion
    • Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly
    • Work requires close visual acuity

    WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

    • A deep commitment to USES’s mission and core values
    • Experience and/or knowledge of Department of Early Education Care
    • Must meet all minimum requirements for infant/toddler or preschool teacher as detailed in EEC regulations 606 CMR 7.09 (18)(c)(3) and (4) (available at www.mass.gov), including minimum age, education and work experience
    • Must be able to climb, stoop, reach, stand, lift, feel, talk, hear, and be capable of repetitive motion
    • Excellent communication skills, planning and organizing, attention to details, energetic and fun
    • Bachelor's, CDA or Associates Degree in ECE or a related field strongly preferred
