Job Summary:
Implement, promote, and grow USTA NorCal’s Red, Orange, Green (R.O.G.) and entry level Yellow ball tennis pathway. This includes, but is not limited to junior tournaments, camp administration and Red/Orange/Green Junior Team Tennis products. Increase the number of sites offering R.O.G programs; develop additional ways to accurately measure program participation. Promote USTA membership growth.
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Act as R.O.G. consultant to staff and relevant committees (ROGY Development , Junior Council, JTT, Coaches Commission, Sanctions & Scheduling)
- Oversee the Orange/Green sanction tournaments to ensure Tournament Directors are providing a quality experience
- Attend Orange/Green level tournaments intermittently to provide Tournament Director support
- Administrative liaison to the R.O.G.Y. Development Committee
- Generate and submit monthly reports to track participation
- Assist with coordinating R.O.G. tennis educational workshops
- Educate section staff and volunteers regarding R.O.G. tennis pathway
- Oversee all aspects of the Youth Progression System (update player records, create marketing collateral, and act as the consultant for the program)
- Administer the H.I.T.S. Red Ball Junior Team Tennis and Team Challenge programs
- Produce, process, promote, and distribute R.O.G. program information
- Interact with USPTA/PTR pros, Member Organizations, Park and Rec personnel, CTA leaders, volunteers, players and parents about R.O.G. programs
- Assist USTA NorCal staff at events approved by management
- Perform other duties as assigned and approved by management
Event Planning and Coordination:
Manage the coordination and administration of the following ROGY events:
This includes (dates, location, awards, gifts, t-shirts, catering, invitations, on-site coordination, volunteer recruitment, finances and event recaps)
EDC Team Challenges
HITS Red Ball Junior Team Tennis
Orange/Green Section Championships (two times a year)
Tournament Director Workshops (at least two workshops a quarter)
Assist Player Development staff and Coaches Commission with Early Development Camps
Coordinate with the Junior Department to organize junior awards
Be highly organized and detailed during preparations for event, and during the day(s) of event.
Manage internal and external resources to facilitate design work (flyers, t-shirts).
Oversee and determine quantity of all event supplies; order and track supplies.
Load and unload event equipment (such as tennis supplies, boxes of prizes, refreshments, etc.).
Ongoing Training:
- Attend all USTA ROG events and trainings assigned by manager
- Actively participate on National Youth Progression and ROG calls
- Help plan and facilitate ongoing ROG trainings and continue to develop the necessary training curriculum when needed
Necessary Qualifications:
- Strong interest and passion for junior tennis programs and initiatives.
- Working knowledge of the USTA and youth tennis programs.
- Self-starter with can-do attitude. Strong and enthusiastic team player.
- Exhibit high energy and enthusiasm with a desire to promote and grow junior programs.
- Very strong administrative and data management skills with experience using G-Suite, Excel, Word and Publisher.
- Familiar reading a tennis tournament draw as well as tournament scheduling.
- Self-confidence to communicate verbally and in writing with established club pro’s, high school coaches, park and recreation management, parents other VIP’s and represent the USTA professionally.
- Sales and customer service mentality; listening and providing information about 10 and Under Tennis and entry level Yellow Ball Programs
- Implement creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Successfully prioritize and multi-task and meet many deadlines
- Work at our events and implement a wide range of organization and leadership skills.
- BA/BS degree earned from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
- Bring knowledge of prior experience working in a sports and/or not-for-profit environment.
- Valid CA State issued drivers license and a clean driving record.
- Must have a vehicle and able to provide their own transportation.
