    El Paso Day Surgery is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse Charge to join our team!!

    Registered Nurse Operating Room Circulator Charge at El Paso Day Surgery:

    • Supervises the OR staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
    • Serve as a role model of professional behavior.
    • Clinical resource for perioperative services staff members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards.
    • Evaluates current practice through quality and performance improvement measures.
    • Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
    • Uses good body mechanics.
    • Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
    • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders.
    • Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the health care organization.
    • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care.
    • Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
    • Use effective conflict resolution techniques, orders instruments and equipment for cases.
    • Coordinate inventory bi-annually in all areas of the OR.
    • Operationally and fiscally manage the perioperative services department.
    • Collect and analyze data that applies to perioperative services to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders.
    • Participate in interviews for staff selection.
    • Participates in orientation of new OR staff members.
    • Participates in annual competency of OR staff.
    • Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
    • Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering and/or necessary repairs.
    • Communicate with vendors, representatives, and/or other facilities for supplies, equipment or instruments that are needed for cases.
    • Works closely with Materials Management and Sterile Processing Department to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
    • Assist in evaluating staff member performance.
    • Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to O.R. functions.
    • Assistance in maintaining compliance for AAAHC surveys.
    • EDGE data entry.
    • Assistance with staff counseling as necessary.
    • Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.
    • As an OR RN Circulator, assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for all age patients in the OR.

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing.
    • Baccalaureate degree preferred or work-related experience.
    • Current Texas RN License
    • BLS, ACLS required.

    Required Experience

    • Three (3) years experience in intra-operative setting.
    • One year of leadership required intra-operative setting.
    • Independent decision-making skills.
    • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
    • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.
    • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
    • Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
    • Shall be physically able to stand, walk, and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time.
    • Shall be able to move up to 100 lbs.
