    Job Summary: Oversight and assistance to the BOM in most Business Office Functions at Cascade Spine Center (CSC), including, but not limited to, payment postings, insurance verifications, accounts payable, reception and patient check-in, and collections. Also assist with reporting monthly operational metrics to corporate RCM and accounting teams, as needed.


    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    · Responsible for getting payment postings and deposit logs completed in a timely manner.

    · Account collections from patients and/or insurance companies.

    · Appeals of insurance company settlements, where appropriate.

    · Insurance verifications pre-procedure, including verifying accuracy of patient insurance information.

    · Assist with patient reception and check-in, as needed.

    · Assist with providing orientation and training to staff in all areas of the business office.

    · Assist with maintaining current policies and procedures for CSC’s business office.

    · Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledge, use and care of business office equipment.

    · Provides direction and is knowledgeable on all aspects of team functions including patient registration, medical records, insurance verification, collections, and accounts payable.

    · Assist BOM with facility reporting to accounting and RCM teams, as needed, to include case volume, accrual logs, implant utilization, and bank reconciliation.

    · Assist BOM with performing accounts payables duties: ENVI invoice reconciliation, manual entry of invoices, vendor approvals, AP 100, pay runs using Oracle.

    · In the absence of the BOM, responsible for CSC’s operations within all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards as it relates to the business office and medical records department, and for following internal controls that are in place.

    · Attend meetings as required.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervise business office staff, in the event that the BOM is on PTO or leave.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Perform other activities as requested by CSC’s BOM and/or Administrator.

    · Work with other Center employees to ensure smooth and efficient flow of patients through the Center.

    · Monthly and other reporting activities as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION, EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Supervisory experience, computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology and coding. Mathematical skills required to calculate percentages, interest, and practical application of account receivables and accounts payable functions. Experience working with physicians in a medical setting such as hospital, physician office or surgery center is desirable. **** Problem solving and decision making, communication, organizational, and management skills limited to specific accountabilities of the position. Meet deadlines as assigned; may have to work in stressful situations and respond to patient questions and complaints.

    High School degree required. College degree or equivalent experience in business and or healthcare administration is preferred.
