    Reports directly to the Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate.

    Plans, regulates and monitors utility (water, natural gas and electricity) use throughout the integrated delivery system. Aim to improve utility efficiency by evaluating utility use and implementing new policies and changes in use, monitoring and controls. Developing, coordinating, and implementing the aims and objectives of strategies and policies to reduce utility consumption and reviewing the effectiveness of these policies and strategies, including coordinating regular progress reports.

    Evaluate and implement solar power use where it is cost effective, including electricity generation, hot water heating, shading to reduce heat gain, etc.

    Organize, develop, promote, and manage recycling programs with a goal of minimizing waste throughout the organization.  Work with the end users and supply chain management to reduce initial packaging and supply waste.  

    Administrative accountability over the Director of Facilities Support at PIH Health Hospital - Whittier.  This includes Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance, Biomedical, Security, Environmental Services, and Grounds.

    Assist in the coordination and management of construction projects throughout the organization as assigned.

    Review reports of expenditures for previous fiscal year and proposed improvements to facilities in order to prepare budget estimates for upcoming fiscal year.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of federal, state and local codes and standards for hospital, medical offices and other facilities.
    • Possess personnel skills.
    • Ability to organize, plan and execute programs related to departments managed.
    • Extensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years hospital facilities experience with audits, licensing and documentation.
    • Thorough knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, DHS, NFPA, OSHPD and Life Safety Laws, codes and requirements.
    • Supervisory and project management experience in managing similar areas of responsibility.

     

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly recommended.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
