    USPI St. Mary's Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced RN PAT/Total Joint Coordinator to join our team. St. Mary's Ambulatory Surgery Center is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.

    Job Summary:

    The Total Joint RN is responsible for the development, coordination and maintenance of the care continuum for total joint replacement patients. The Total Joint RN provides leadership for all aspects of the continuum of care beginning before surgery through postop. The Total Joint RN will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of program goals and operations. The Preadmission Nurse (PAT RN) has the responsibility for organizing and directing activities in accordance with nursing standards. PAT RN may assume the following PAT responsibilities: contact, by way of telephone, all patients prior to surgery to assess medical and medication history, review for appropriate lab, x-ray, EKG orders to determine where and when these procedures are to be completed and provide preadmission teaching. The RN can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients 6 months of age and older.

    Key tasks and responsibilities:

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • Uses nursing judgment in decision-making.
    • Provides teaching to patient/parent of child per level of understanding.
    • Is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for an infant, adolescent, adult, or geriatric patient. Maintains professional conduct and appearance.
    • Coordinates the efforts between the surgeons, leadership and staff while tracking the progress of the program and identifying areas requiring attention.
    • Responsible for all program management, process improvement, patient and provider satisfaction
    • Works collaboratively with joint arthroplasty surgeons and anesthesiologists to manage the patient's specialized needs.
    • Develops, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the joint replacement program care pathway and modifies as necessary.
    • Works with the interdisciplinary team to deliver an exceptional patient experience and ensures the delivery of quality patient care.

    Refers to and supports approved joint replacement protocols. Acts as a patient advocate and educator to assure that the patient has the knowledge to care for his/her condition and patient is educated and empowered to be responsible for participating in the plan of care. Develops individualized patient/family education plan focused on self-management; delivers patient/family education specific to joint replacement program

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an approved school of nursing and current RN license required.
    • Current BLS Certification is required
    • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN.
    • Background of clinical experience in joint replacement or PAT is preferred.
