Full-Time Days
Following physicians’ orders, the Pharmacist compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals. Position responsibilities include:
Maintains strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispenses accordingly.
Consults with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors and complaints.
Determines and consults on possible drug interactions.
Assists in the supervision and training of pharmacy personnel.
Participates in Drug Utilization Review.
Assists with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Fulfills responsibilities of Pharmacy Manager in their absence.

Required Skills
• Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education.
• Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Tennessee
• Hospital experience preferred
• Demonstrate competent knowledge of the development needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws.
• Must possess ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel, medical staff and the public.
• Possess the ability to make independent decisions.
• Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
• Assists with the initiation, development, maintenance, and execution of rules and regulations pertaining to professional policies set by the Pharmacy Department.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
Required Experience
• Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education.
• Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Tennessee
