  • Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for designing curriculum, recruiting and screening prospective students, and working with the CPE Professional Advisory Group to oversee daily operation of the program. Maintain programs, policies, and procedures for the CPE center in accordance with standards set forth by accrediting body Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE), as well as goals and objectives, in collaboration with the Department Director and/or Manager for CPE. Provide quality education, training, and ongoing supervision for chaplain interns and/or residents, as appropriate for the hospital. Collaborate with Manager of Spiritual Care and, or staff chaplain(s) to assign student clinical units and provide effective spiritual care coverage. Serve as a liaison to local seminaries, ordained persons and others concerning CPE. Participate in the broader life of ACPE through National and Community of Practice events.

    Required Experience

    Required:

    • Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from a CHEA accredited institution
    • Certification as an ACPE Certified Educator or Certified Associate Educator
    • Denominational Ordination/Commission and Endorsement
    • Experience in CPE curriculum development
    • Full knowledge and understanding of the standards and outcomes expected by ACPE
    • 2 or more years work as a staff chaplain in an acute care setting
    • Experience in teaching at least 5 units of CPE

    Preferred:


    • ACPE National Faculty certification
    • Spanish speaking
    • Experience maintaining ACPE accreditation requirements
    • Board Certified Chaplain
