    Job Overview: As a Sterile Processing Technician at Prince William ASC , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. You will be responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and organization of surgical instruments and equipment, as well as maintaining a sterile environment in compliance with industry standards and protocols.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Instrument Sterilization: Properly clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using autoclaves and other sterilization methods.
    • Quality Control: Perform regular quality checks on sterilized instruments to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
    • Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of sterile supplies and surgical instruments, ordering replacements as needed.
    • Sterile Environment: Prepare and set up sterile fields and rooms for surgical procedures, adhering to aseptic techniques.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and guidelines, including AORN and CDC standards.
    • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of sterilization equipment.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
    • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with surgical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to meet their instrument and supply needs.
    • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations by providing immediate access to sterile instruments and supplies.
    • Infection Control: Play an active role in infection control initiatives and contribute to a safe and hygienic environment.

    Required Skills

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Certification in sterile processing required.
    • Previous experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a healthcare or surgical setting.
    • Knowledge of sterilization techniques, aseptic principles, and infection control practices.
    • Familiarity with sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines.

    USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date.
