    JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing high quality radiographs. He / she shall strive to minimize patient wait time in the department and shall do his / her best to educate patients / families about procedures being performed. Demonstrates the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.

     

     

     

    JOB TITLE: Radiology Technician- PRN

     

     

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Clinical Director

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the major responsibilities of the job, but is not intended to describe the minor duties or other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.     • Performs all radiographic procedures as written in Policy and Procedure Manual.

    • Participates in development of Policies and Procedures within the department.

    • Performs high quality radiology work.

    • Notifies department director of equipment/machine malfunction.

    • Adheres to Policies and Procedures as defined by Infection Control.

    • Demonstrates knowledge of filing, and logging in of x-rays.

    • Demonstrates knowledge of reporting system of radiology findings to physician.

    • Participates in Performance Improvement Plan.

    • Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team.

    • Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.

    • Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.

    • Follows the Center's professional conduct and dress code policy.

    • Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians and their office staffs, patients and employees.

    • Assists with other responsibilities of Center as deemed necessary by management.

     

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: Able to read, write, type, and perform calculations at a level generally acquired through completion of high school plus six months or less training beyond high school.

     

    • Able to prepare reports and keep records.

    • Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the health care team.

    • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.

    • Familiar with medical terminology and departmental supply items.

    • Licensure/Certification/Registration: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

    • Texas Medical Board - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist.

    • Basic Life Cardiac Support.

    • Education and Experience: 1-2 years experience in C-Arm and Portable x-rays in operating room setting.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Currently licensed in the state. Basic Life Support required. One year experience required intra-operative setting. Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities. Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.

     

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Shall be physically able to stand, walk, and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time. Demonstrates manual dexterity. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee shall be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or tools. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Shall be able to hear and speak. Shall be able to move up to 100 pounds.
