OR Circulator- RN East Portland Surgery Center is one of Portland’s leading multi-specialty surgery centers, performing cases in the specialties of pain management, GI, general surgery, orthopedics, plastics, ophthalmology, ENT & Spine. We are seeking a Full Time (FT) Operating Room (OR) Nurse to join our Team.
What We Value: • Authentic, warm interactions with our Patients, Physicians & Team • Service consistently delivered with integrity and a smile • Team members who prefer an integrative work environment • Open, solution-based communication • A growth mindset that sees challenge as opportunity • Mentorship & skill building A Successful Candidate Will: • Contribute by maintaining organization & flexibility • Deliver professional and friendly interactions to Patients, Physicians & Team • Provide exceptional customer service to our Patients • Value that their presence is required for personal and overall Team success • Believe in the Values our Company works towards daily • Appreciate a company that shares in creating and benefiting from its success Responsibilities and Duties What We Need: • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (associates or bachelor's degree) • Minimum of three (3) years previous OR experience • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of four (4) years total RN experience • Current Oregon License as a Registered Nurse • Current BLS, ACLS & PALS required • CNOR preferred • Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees • Knowledgeable of hospital/ASC policies and procedures specific to the operating room • Clinically proficient in operating room nursing skills, having worked in a variety of specialties • Demonstrated knowledge of the development needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient
Job Duties & Functions: • Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care • Implement patient plan of care using the following interventions: o Protect patient from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects o Perform count procedures to protect patient from unintended retained foreign objects o Perform interventions necessary to ensure patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level o Manage patient’s specimen(s) in the appropriate manner o Communicate patient’s current status throughout the continuum of care o Administer medication(s) appropriately o Perform interventions to maintain patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels o Perform interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems, and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels o Perform interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period o Perform interventions to protect patient from infection • Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes • Transfer care as appropriate • Uses nursing judgment in decision-making • Maintains or acquires skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities • Documents all records according to established policies and procedures • Assists with reviewing and updating policies and procedures • Performs effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities • Performs additional duties as needed by the department
