  • Responsibilities

    **USPI Northwest Surgery Center **is seeking a motivated Business Office Specialist to join our team. Conveniently located on the Ascension Seton Northwest Hospital campus. We have 7 OR rooms and 1 Procedure room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, General, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Podiatry, Urology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.

    Job duties:

    • Interfaces with patients & families, physicians & staff promoting the Facility’s mission statement
    • Contacts payers to determine patient eligibility, authorization requirements, procedure/implant coverage
    • Verifies appropriate Managed Care plan and calculates allowable notifying Manager of any discrepancies
    • Communicates patient responsibility balances and assists patients with financial arrangements
    • Ability to read and interpret the patient ledger
    • Completes necessary information for patient registration and adds proper documentation in patient accounts
    • Has basic knowledge of CPT and ICD codes
    • Maintains an acceptable performance standard for production based on expectations of department
    • Answer incoming calls as needed
    • Good communication skills, written and verbal

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • One year of medical experience in insurance verification, billing or collection
    • Must have the ability to effectively present information
    • Basic math skills
    • Computer competency
