  • Responsibilities

    MISSION:  The mission of the shift supervisor is to effectively lead and develop a team/shift to accomplish the organizations goals and objectives.  They must be able to solve problems and make good, timely decisions.  They must exhibit company core values and be a change agent for continuous improvement.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/OUTCOMES (JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING):

    • Oversee daily operations of their 12-hour crew across the entire plant

    • Achieve crew goals for safety, quality, and productivity.

    • Supervise all aspects of the hourly workforce

    • Help the department achieve goals through safe work practices

    • Plan appropriate staffing  and develop employees to meet staffing demands

    • Provide all training for the departments including safety, quality, technical training, and systems.

    • Facilitate team meetings and intervene as necessary to keep the team’s goals and results consistent with the company direction.

    • Initiate and conduct personnel actions such as discipline, performance evaluations, and timekeeping.

    • Work with department managers to create weekly staffing schedules.

    • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, days or nights, plus overtime as required.

     

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing
    • 3-5 years' supervisory experience in manufacturing desired
    • Experience with packaging converting equipment (coaters, extruders, presses, and slitting machines) is a plus

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or closely related work experience in lieu of degree
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
    • Knowledge of SAP is a plus

    • Adheres to an effective set of core values and beliefs during good times and bad
    • Ability to provide current, direct, complete, and “actionable” positive and corrective feedback to employees and hold them accountable for their actions
    • Creates a climate in which people want to do their best and invites input from employees.
    • Solid problem solving skills utilizing rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
    • Ability to lead efforts to react quickly to changing requirements and new processing developments.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate with all levels of the organization

    • Computer literate - able to use Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Current California Nursing License
    • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in OR
    • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
    • Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
    • Ability to care for patients with changing medical priorities and ability to respond accordingly
    • Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
    • Knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to operating room nurse
    • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
    • Excellent teaching skills
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
    • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
    • Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation and be receptive to change
    • Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
