Medical Records Clerk
Job Summary: The Medical Records Clerk will be responsible and accountable for the maintenance of health records. In this capacity, the employee organizes and maintains an approved system of records. Tasks include: locating, scanning, auditing, and filing medical records as required. This position reports to the Business Office Manager.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; previous experience in medical record keeping and front desk in a medical setting is desirable.
Successful candidate will be energetic, possess outstanding multitasking abilities, communication and teamwork as well as the ability to keep up in a fast-paced working environment. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate previous successful/positive customer service encounters in a medical setting.
This candidate will serve as back-up to the Medical Receptionist performing the following tasks:
Admit patients and process their paperwork
Update patient demographics/information in system
Copy of patient information (identification and insurance cards)
Collect money due and document in billing documents. Handle funds per office procedures
Prepare reports for upcoming surgery schedules
General clerical duties including answering phones
May also be required to assist the Business Office staff with insurance verification and putting together medical charts during periods of high-volume. Must be a team player with an outgoing personality.
