  • Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY:  The Director of Acute Inpatient Care Services is responsible for PSU/ICU, and Emergency Room Departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals.  The Director is responsible for directing the nursing care and clinical teams with safe, effective and efficient care with 24 hour daily responsibility for Baylor Scott & White- Sunnyvale campus, establishes and ensures compliance with standards of clinical care, and maintains accountability for quality, safety, service and clinical excellence throughout these areas. Other responsibilities include assisting Directors/Clinical Managers/supervisors with Evidence Based Leadership, supporting nursing professional practice.

     

    Essential Job Duties:

     

    • Improves and / or maintains high employee morale as measured by the employee satisfaction survey

    • Implements change and manages and resolves conflict

    • Develops, implements and revises policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services

    • Identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the department taking into account business trends, resource availability and changes in customers.

    • Establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors.

    • Identifies and remedies through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement.

    • Works with Senior Management in meeting Facility goals, serving as a resource.

    • Leads and participates in hospital and department based meetings and councils, responsible for timely reporting and data management around performance improvement activities.

    • Integrates department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions and with other departments.

    Required Skills

    REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; baccalaureate degree, Masters preferred.
    • Current state licensed Registered Nurse Licensure.
    • 3 OR MORE YEARS OF PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN ALL ASPECTS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IN AREA OF EXPERTISE.
    • AHA BLS is required, national certification in area of expertise preferred.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Additional languages preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal skills.
