    JOB TITLE: Admitting Receptionist

     

    REPORTS TO: Business Office Manager / Administrator

     

    HOURS: Hours may vary from 4am- 5:30pm.

     

    JOB SUMMARY: Performs duties including: receiving patients and notifies admitting RN of arrival of patients for admission, begins pre-registration of patients. Accepts payments and operation of the credit card machine.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: High school graduate, at least five years of previous experience as a receptionist or medical assistant in a clinic or hospital setting.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Greets patients and their care givers pleasantly and graciously.

    • Assists patient with admission packet and starts the admission process.

    • Notifies admitting nurse to complete admission process.

    • Collects deductibles and co-insurance payments.

    • Affixes identification bracelet after correct identification of LEGAL name and birth date.

    • Compiles the medical record before surgery with correct forms and assigns chart number.

    • Keeps record of procedures performed.

    • Keep the anesthesiology group updated with the following day’s schedule.

    • Distributes daily schedules to the Operating Room, admitting unit, and PACU.

    • Answers all telephone calls.

    • Accepts payments from patients

    • Complies with and is knowledgeable of centers safety procedures.

    • Participates in drills and notifies the proper agency.

    • Maintains patient’s rights to include confidentiality, privacy, safety, and security.)

    • Interacts with patients, physicians, co-workers, visitors, and care givers in a manner that exemplifies the facility’s mission and core values.

    • Adapts easily to changes in work flow including assignments and environment.

    • Is willing to assume additional responsibilities.

    • Is willing to perform basic tasks in a timely manner with minimum guidance and supervision.
