    Responsible for the overall administration, planning, direction, evaluation and development of the Physical Medicine Department.

    Required Experience

    • Safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patient’s protected health information in accordance with State and Federal (HIPAA) regulatory requirements, hospital and departmental policies.
    • Ensures a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices per policy.
    • With consideration to age, employee utilizes the approved process to resolve biophysical, psychological, educational and environmental needs of patient/significant other when administering care.

    • Develops, administers and coordinates policies and procedures for the Physical Medicine department as well as provide overall direction in the continuing operation of the departments’ services.
    • Establishes standards of patient care and nursing practice
    • Ensures that patient outcomes meet or exceed expectations.
    • Establishes mechanisms to monitor, evaluate and improve patient care.
    • Anticipates potential problems, identifies alternative approaches and uses sound judgment in corrective action.
    • Measures and evaluates results of actions and modifies approach when outcomes are not achieved.
    • Collaborates with staff, ancillary personnel and physicians to problem solve patient care and unit issues.
    • Provides staffing schedules that reflect compliance with the Patient Classification System and regulatory requirements include safe staffing and scheduling.
    • Monitors compliance with the Patient Classification System.
