Responsible for the overall administration, planning, direction, evaluation and development of the Physical Medicine Department.

- Develops, administers and coordinates policies and procedures for the Physical Medicine department as well as provide overall direction in the continuing operation of the departments’ services.
- Establishes standards of patient care and nursing practice
- Ensures that patient outcomes meet or exceed expectations.
- Establishes mechanisms to monitor, evaluate and improve patient care.
- Anticipates potential problems, identifies alternative approaches and uses sound judgment in corrective action.

- Collaborates with staff, ancillary personnel and physicians to problem solve patient care and unit issues.
- Provides staffing schedules that reflect compliance with the Patient Classification System and regulatory requirements include safe staffing and scheduling.
- Monitors compliance with the Patient Classification System.
