    SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, the Data Scientist utilizes advanced statistical, mathematics, data mining, and predictive modeling to support clinical and operational initiatives at Rogers Behavioral Health. The conceptualization, development, testing and execution of algorithms is utilized to drive improvement in patient care. This role helps determine the organizational needs and appropriate methodology. This role collaborates with clinical and operations teams to interpret results. The Data Scientist engages in independent research as well as provide recommendations and implementation of new processes and solutions to efficiently support the organizational goals. This position provides mentorship and training to other department roles, as well as possess an in-depth knowledge of federal regulations, hospital policies/procedures, qualities standards, and guidance for assessment procedures hospital wide.

     

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop data analytics plans for clinical and operations activities utilizing various datasets (unstructured and structured)
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data analytics plans.
    • Employ programming to clean, analyze, and organize the data.
    • Cleaning and validating the data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and uniformity
    • Mine and analyze data to drive improvement of treatment program development.
    • Performs both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis on large data sets to understand trends and relationships between variables to gain predictive insights.
    • Develop custom predictive data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
    • Partner with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
    • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
    • Assist in the publication of research projects.
    • Participate in the development of written reports and oral presentations summarizing data analysis results and detailed description of statistical methods.
    • Securing safe storage of patient-sensitive documents.
    • Assuring appropriate disposal of sensitive documents.

     

    EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in Data Science or similar field with emphasis on Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Advanced Analytics, Stream Processing, Visualizations, Natural language processing required.
    • Prior analytical experience working with medical or mental health data is preferred.
    • Requires working at a highly technical, analytical, and detail-oriented level.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development and deployment.
    • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
    • Experience working with and creating data architectures and data pipelines preferred.
    • Knowledge and experience using a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, deep learning, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, Natural language processing, simulation, scenario analyses, modeling, neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
    • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, etc.) and experience with applications.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
    • Experience with survey evaluation (psychometrics) and reliability analyses required.
    • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
    • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in systems, finance or accounting strongly preferred
    •  Experience financial statements/reports.
    • Ability to identify and troubleshoot system issues.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills highly desired, along with working knowledge of Microsoft suite.
