ABOUT UNITY SCHOOL HAWAIʻI

Unity School is a private non-profit, state-licensed preschool for children 18 months through 5 years old. Our campus is located on the beautiful slopes of Diamond Head in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Educating children since 1974, we offer a wide variety of opportunities for academic growth through the thoughtful, fun, and age-appropriate programs we’ve designed.

We believe that proper early education is of the utmost importance. It is the foundation for a happy and successful student life from kindergarten forward. The goal of our preschool program is to provide a loving, supportive environment that fosters within the child a sense of self-esteem, self-direction, and the ability to cooperate with others.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are seeking someone with a warm and friendly disposition, who enjoys working with young children, communicates well with peers, and who is willing to fulfill responsibilities in alignment with our educational teaching philosophy and school policies. We expect our staff to give the children the best opportunities to grow academically, emotionally, and socially through fun and age-appropriate programs designed for children aged 18 months to five years old.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists teachers with coordination of the curriculum (includes music, art, creative movement, drama, and physical education.
• Is respectful of students’ efforts, providing support and open, positive communication.
• Is open to new ideas and continuous learning.
• Is attentive and aware of children at all times.
• Supports school community and parent events.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Consistent attendance and punctuality is required.
• Annual background criminal checks.
• Physical Requirements (necessary to create a safe and secure environment for the care of our preschool students):
• Frequent sitting and walking around in the classroom and playground areas.
• Frequent walking up and down stairs.
• Frequent bending and reaching for small items.
• Sometimes carrying children (weighing up to 40 pounds).

COVID-19 VACCINATIONS

COVID-19 vaccinations approved by the FDA help protect people from getting COVID-19, spreading the virus to others, and getting severely sick if infected. We require school staff to be fully vaccinated.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Paid probationary training.

Pay increase upon accepting a full-time position.

Paid holidays and school closures.

Additional 15 days PTO (Paid Time Off)

Full HMSA individual medical plan.

After completing 1 year of employment:

• Retirement plan option
• Free tuition for 1 child, dependent on space.
• 1 additional PTO to be used for a birthday day off.
