    Competitive Wages, Perdiem and Logging provided 6 work day schedule 12/hr shift This person will accomplish department objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating department activities. The purpose of this position is to ensure a smooth daily operation at the assigned warehouse. Define and enforce standards for unloading process, productivity, and accuracy. This position may also serve in the capacity of another midlevel management positions. Ensure customers are satisfied by providing good customer service while maintaining the profitability, guidelines and overall business morale. Duties: I.Essential Functions of Responsibilities a.Manage crew of midlevel managers and lumpers i.Resolve all employee issues ii.Motivate employees iii.Initiate warnings/disciplinary actions as needed iv.Train new lumpers or team new lumper with senior lumper v.Handle damages and injuries vi.Complete paperwork – e.g. damage reports, safety violations, cash control logs (if applicable), etc. vii.Hire and Terminate employees (Assistance from Human Resources) b.Enforce company policies c.Resolve problems or issues for the customer and employees d.Serve as a contact for carriers and warehouse personnel e.May serve in the capacity of one or more other midlevel management roles f.Swift completion of any issues brought up by warehouse management g.Communicate with warehouse management throughout the day with details h.Resolve problems/discrepancies on loads i.Read and follow up on emails and voice mails j.Meet with Director of Operations weekly II.Other Duties and Responsibility a.Oversee the onsite training of new employees as needed b.Complete performance evaluations for all employees c.Prepare payroll adjustment sheets weekly d.Pick up and deliver pay checks weekly e.Conduct weekly lumper meetings f.Conduct monthly manager meetings g.Communicate with warehouse managers and receivers to assure quality service h.Conduct or attend monthly safety meetings i.Conduct weekly inspections j.Responsible for Temporary Work management at assigned warehouse. k.Operations • Knowledge of unloading service needs. • Shift hours vary depending upon daily work load and unit • Comprehension of Unit Business Plan. • Comprehension of Unit Communication and Paperwork Flow. • Cross-trained in all positions to ensure coverage is available if necessary • Damage Control and Maintenance with the use of Damage Product Report. • Understands employee pay structures. • Oversees all Managers/Lumper Meetings. • Educates and implements quick turn time for unloading as efficiently as possible. • Dock cleanliness trained throughout all UL employees in accordance with Warehouse cleaning needs. • Crew Support for Lumpers and Managers. • Monitor all Manager check-out. • Control ticket accuracy for DSC needs. • Cash drop. (If applicable balance or information explaining discrepancy) • Addresses issues that arise from Customers, personnel and Company. • Forecasting weekly and monthly Customer needs. • Identify ways and ideas to improve our Company’s daily operation at your Unit. k. General Financial • Audits • Troubleshooting • Checks and Balances III.Supervisory Responsibilities a.Manages all Universal Lumpers employees at assigned warehouse – direct reports are midlevel manager and indirect reports are lumpers. b.Supervision activities – hiring, promoting, compensating, training, disciplining, scheduling, directing, terminating, development, and measuring performance c.Refer to responsibilities above for specific details. IV.Knowledge and skills a.Minimum of 3 years total warehouse experience b.Bachelors in Business preferable but not required c.3-5 years management experience d.Bilingual a plus e.Excellent verbal and written communication skills f.Customer service oriented g.Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements h.On the job warehouse experience i.Ability to handle money – cash and checks – overages and shortages j.Take initiative k.Team player l.Must be honest, dependable and focused m.Detail oriented n.Multitask • Strong math skills p.Warehouse knowledge and experience q.Knowledge of all warehouse positions r.Organization s.Intermediate computer skills t.Ability to lift a over 55 lbs u.Ability to walk and stand the majority of shift v.Strong management and leadership background is a must w.Ability to build a relationship and communicate with all levels of people – i.e. drivers, carriers, warehouse management, UL employees, LMS office staff, etc. x.Good attitude and interpersonal skills, even tempered y.Ability to use warehouse equipment as needed – i.e. forklift, pallet jack, slip machine z.Willing to work flexible hours and long shifts aa.Positive attitude, energetic and enthusiastic bb.Ability to motivate employees cc.Handle pressure and stress well dd.Handle difficult drivers and others well ee.Must have good listening and memory skills ff.Confident personality gg.Patient hh.Maintain a professional image V.Physical Demands a.Refer to working conditions below.
