    POSITION: QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

    LOCATION/DEPARTMENT: NASHVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA / OPERATIONS

    STATUS: FULL TIME SALARIED, EXEMPT

    DATE: NOVEMBER 4, 2020 SHIFT: 8:00AM-5:00PM MONDAY-FRIDAY

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations of the QA production and microbiology laboratories, with special emphasis on the Dry Product Division for establishing a quality management system to assure processes and products are in compliance with both customer and legal guidelines. The Quality Assurance Manager will supervise all QA Technicians and Sanitation and will report directly to the Director of Operations.     RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Be key driver for all Dry Division quality related needs. Follow up with customers regarding Quality Questions or Complaints.

    • Organize and Lead Dry Division 3rd party, regulatory and customer audits. Create and follow up with corrective action plans.

    • Scheduling, supervision, and hiring of Quality Department Staff, ensuring that production and shipping schedules are always covered to support the needs of production and shipping.

    • Maintain a strong positive Quality Assurance team that will support other departments as needed.

    • Participate in employee coaching and discipline as needed.

    • Review and approval of daily quality/production records, bulk shipping records, HACCP records, etc. Reporting information to other departments as needed, trouble shoot and offer solutions for problems.

    • Responsible for outside testing programs, ensuring that programs are followed, and testing is completed as needed.

    • Track and Trend testing data making recommendations for changes in processes, procedures or equipment.

    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a quality management system to assure processes and products are in compliance.

    • Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met during production. Assist customers with Technical information and data needed for CIFI Products in order to provide excellent customer service and resolve any issues quickly.

    • Oversee environmental monitoring program, micro testing programs, and collaborative testing program. Continuously improve programs and drive changes in the facilities to improve product quality and facility sanitation.

    • Lead HACCP/Food Safety, Food Defense, and internal auditing teams. Ensure program requirements are being met and maintained

    • Maintain compliance with FSMA and all other applicable regulatory requirements.

    • Responsible for managing and dispositioning product on quality hold.

    • Responsible for managing and ordering supplies for QA production laboratory and microbiological laboratory.

    • Oversees testing of processes and products, including sample retention.

    • Identify and drive opportunities for plant efficiencies and continuous improvements, regulatory compliance, plant productivity, cost control and project management.

    • Responsible for operational and budgetary aspects related to proper management and operation of the QA department and staff.

    • Supervise QA technicians and sanitation.

    • Oversee all technical processes.

    WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • Three or more years' experience in the ingredient, beverage or food processing industry required
    • FMSA, PCQI and/or HACCP training required experience with food and plant QA experience required.
    • Aseptic processing and packaging experience preferred.
    • Microbiologically sensitive product experience preferred.
    • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
    • Strong knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and aseptic techniques
    • Must be able to work independently and set priorities that support overall departmental objectives.
    • Proficient in the use of personal computers, Microsoft applications including preferably in Microsoft environment.
    • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
    • Knowledge of QA system design.
    • Understanding of food safety management.
    • Ability to effectively problem-solve and make fact-based decisions.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively interact with customers.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • High School Diploma and/or equivalent or higher.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field - Strongly preferred
