    Job Description

    BUSINESS CASUAL, FAMILY ORIENTED WORK ENVIRONMENT WITH THE OPTION TO WORK REMOTE UP TO TWO DAYS PER WEEK (UPON COMPLETION OF ORIENTATION AND TRAINING PERIOD).

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting the month-end close process including the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements along with review of financials with operations management. The position is also responsible for driving margin analysis.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Support implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

    • Perform month-end close processes, book journal entries and provide appropriate detail level review and analysis.

    • Prepare monthly account reconciliations as assigned and/or serve as reviewer of certain reconciliations.

    • Prepare monthly financial packets for operations management, analyze and review with team on weekly and monthly operations management calls.

    • Develop and implement flex-budgeting tool.

    • Work with operations management team to forecast operations along with costs using flex-budgeting tool.

    • Become a “power user” of Microsoft Dynamics Ax financial modules for general ledger.

    • Support budget and forecasting activities.

    • Support annual year-end audit.

    • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

    • Perform monthly financial variance analysis, including research, documentation and communication of account fluctuations.

    • Establish and build effective and productive relationships within finance and other departments.

    • Identify and apply cost analysis to the various cost centers within the operations.

    • Develop and distribute margin analysis on the various product lines.

    • Customize cost assumptions for each division.

    • Act as business partner with management to provide recommendations to improve month end processes, financial controls, forecasting and general analytics.

    • Identify and train back-ups for job functions.

    • Occasional travel to other facilities within the United States.

    • Other duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

    KNOWLEDGE

    o GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)

    o General knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting.

    o Specialized knowledge of operational cost analysis.

    o Beginning understanding of tools used to achieve lean manufacturing, i.e. value stream mapping, pareto analysis, root cause analysis.

    o Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

    SKILLS

    o Ability to analyze problem and develop meaningful solutions

    o Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. (Microsoft Dynamics Ax experience preferred)

    o Strong oral and written communications, conveying information effectively, modifying delivery to meet the needs of varying audiences

    o Strong office equipment operation, such as personal computer, IT systems, general office machines and software such as Microsoft Office Suite

    o Critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred; 3-5 years of cost accounting experience required.
