  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    Responsible for developing initial layouts, overseeing revisions of existing computer aided design files, providing technical assistance to the project team, and creating and manipulating drawings from conceptual markups or verbal instructions to the Company’s or Client’s requirements.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Efficiently creates or modifies detailed drawings in accordance with the design or markups
    • Prepares drawing and standards files in accordance with Company and Client standards
    • Conducts preliminary QA/QC and checking
    • Responsible for continuity between conceptual designs and detail designs
    • Assists in development of design criteria
    • Coordinates design with other disciplines
    • Performs tasks under minimal supervision
    • May have some client interface in regards to providing or acquiring information
    • Responsible for following corporate safety protocols

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to create grading plans/cut and fill calculations using surveying points
    • Ability to create platforms, pipe support, etc. with minimal supervision
    • Knowledge of AutoCad Civil 3D/Cadworx Steel
    • Demonstrates ability to understand, communicate and apply engineering concepts
    • Demonstrates ability to identify impact of changes on other disciplines and communicates changes to other disciplines
    • Capable of modeling in a 3D environment
    • Demonstrates ability to develop efficient discipline specific layout of equipment
    • Demonstrates ability to research manufacturer technical data and be able to communicate with manufacturers, clients and other engineers as necessary to complete the assigned design task
    • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to learn new techniques and software
    • Able to organize and prioritize project workload for self and others

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Some college or formal related technical courses preferred
    • Three to five years of civil/structural drafting experience
    • Three to six years of civil/structural design experience
    • AutoCad Civil 3D/CADWorx Steel experience
    • AutoLISP or Visual Basic programming experience a plus
    • Microsoft Office experience preferred
