    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING?                                                                                                          

     

    Case Management

    • Provide or coordinate care, treatment and management of occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses ensuring appropriate care and return to work
    • Communication with employees and health care providers as needed regarding work status, work limitations, disability status, etc
    • Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing reasonable accommodations and return to work options for employees with restricted duty
    • Interfaces with workers’ compensation vendor/EHS/HR/Management on occupational injuries and illnesses

     

    First-Aid & Emergency Treatment

    • Evaluate and treat injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines
    • Provides direct health care services to client groups (e.g. immunizations, blood pressure checks, dressing changes, etc.) based on established “Medical Directives”

     

    Wellness

    • Lead site wellness committee and Aera Wellness Program including design, implementation and administrative oversight
    • Act as a Wellness /health coach and/or advisor educating employees on various health topics and enabling employees to make healthy lifestyle choices
    • Support ergonomic evaluation efforts and provide input regarding ergonomic improvements and conduct or arrange ergonomic assessments and solutions, as needed
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to improve the well-being of employees
    • Contribute to the development of educational and communication materials tailored to meet the needs
    • Contribute in the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the work environment.
    • Analyzing occupational and non-occupational injury/illness cases occurring to identify primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimize health of employees
    • Responsible for providing health services support for designated client groups
    • Serves as member of Office Safety Team and ad hoc member of designated client group EHS Teams

     

    Program & Vendor Management

    • Apply best practices and technology as applied to occupational medicine processes in order to improve those processes. Coordinate and leverage resources with other medical professionals to appropriately manage medical care and costs
    • Manage OSHA and other regulatory required medical surveillance and fitness to work programs: hearing conservation, hazmat, respiratory protection, blood borne pathogens, etc
    • Assessment of enterprise healthcare needs, then implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work, maintain OSHA records/reports and worker medical files
    • Selects and ensures quality management of our contract medical providers/vendors and consultants
    • Ensures the facility, supplies, and equipment are properly maintained and operational
    • Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program (DOT, Random Safety Sensitive, For Cause, Post Accident, Return to Work)
    • Keep abreast of current medical and occupational health issues
    • Participate in development and support of Health Services Budget, Business Control Plans and Business Continuity Plans
    • Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services

     

    Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and other regulatory agencies, mandated regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.) as well as Corporate Standards and Guidelines.
    • Complete pre-placement exams, medical fitness-for duty, medical clearances and work status evaluations
    • Support regulatory compliance regarding FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, and HIPPA as required
    • Participate in accident investigation program as needed to identify root cause analysis of incidents and near misses

     

    Required Skills

    WHAT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE:

     

    REQUIRED:

    • Registered Nurse, or Midlevel Practitioner (PA or NP) in good-standing with a current, active and unrestricted License by the State of California
    • At least 5 years’ experience as a RN, PA or NP and preferably at least 3 years’ experience in an corporate or industrial setting
    • Experience and ability to manage emergency care situations
    • Ability to work independent of daily physician oversight, and able to recognize when need for consultation with a physician is necessary
    • Understanding of federal and state legal requirements regarding medical confidentiality as well as occupational and environmental health regulations
    • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member with strong effective interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrated advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a diverse workforce
    • Exhibit professionalism at all times, understands appropriate corporate/workplace behavior and can handle confidential and sensitive situations appropriately
    • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office
    • Ability to be a self-motivated learner, to take the initiative in learning
    • Ability to travel to field locations on a regular basis (day trips)
    • Available for call and work during off-hours with minimal notices as needed

     

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE THAT PROVIDE AN ADVANTAGE:

    • Certified as occupational health nurse (COHN) or case manager
    • Certifications in hearing conservation, spirometry, and Basic Life Support (BLS)
