  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) Program.  Responsible for maintaining the highest standards in clinical nursing practice and adherence to the NFP model, policies and procedures, and guidelines and standards of NFP and of University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC-El Paso), the lead agency.  Works within the local community and UMC-El Paso to ensure the NFP Program is implemented in accordance with established guidelines.

    Responsible for the delivery of care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for clients based on established clinical nursing practice standards.  Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient care delivery and the achievement of desired client outcomes.  Supports the organization’s vision and mission and the NFP philosophy and mission.  Utilizes knowledge of client’s age and cultural diversity in the provision of care and contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in care.

    11. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
    12. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
    13. Able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

    Required Experience

    A. Work Experience:

    1. Two years recent RN experience in maternal/child health, public health, home visiting or mental/behavioral nursing required.  One year of home visiting experience preferred. 
    2. Worked in public/community health, including home health visitation preferred.
    3. Provided maternal/child health services, particularly in community setting preferred.
    4. Program management and one-on-one supervision preferred.
    5. Worked with diverse populations, communities, and organizations preferred.

    B. License/Registration/Certification: 

    1. Current or compact RN license to practice in the state of Texas.
    2. Current CPR training program required.
    3. Certified Lactation Consultant required within two years of being in the position.
    4. Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required.

    C. Education and Training:  Bachelor degree in Nursing required.
