    Description

     

     

    We are seeking highly motivated engineers to develop, implement and support the deployment of manufacturing functional test modules for our company, Open Compute, Storage, and Networking hardware. As part of the Operations Engineering team, the Manufacturing Test Engineer will work with our Test Automation Engineers, Manufacturing Quality Engineers and manufacturing partners.

     

    This is a contractor position and reports to the Sustaining Manufacturing Quality Manager as part of the Sourcing and Operations Engineering team based in our Menlo Park, California office.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    o Implement and optimize test cases for the manufacturing Open Compute and Storage hardware.

    o Engage with the Manufacturing Test, Test Framework, and Manufacturing Quality teams in order to execute the Manufacturing Test Requirements plan in a mass production environment.

    o Execute regression and deployment plans against the change management process to support the scaling of the test framework.

    o Define more detailed and explicit error codes which will lead to broader and more accurate debug.

    o Rescope current logging capabilities including depth of checks, timing, log consolidation, and searchability.

    o Develop tooling to parse logs for predefined values, tests, and errors.

    o Work with the global MQE team to drive root cause and corrective action for failures during rack integration.

     

     

    Requirements:

     

    o BS, Electrical or Computer Science, or a related technical qualification

    o 2+ years’ experience in deploying and supporting manufacturing test software in a high-volume manufacturing environment

    o Knowledge of server and storage hardware architecture and technologies including test/ debug methodologies

    o Experience developing manufacturing test solutions, working with open source stress applications, and interpreting detailed test results for server products

    o Demonstrated use of quality tools and methodologies in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment

    o Scripting skills in Bash, Perl, and Python

    o Experience operating in Linux/Unix environments with knowledge of networking and network boot.

    o Excellent problem solving and communication skills

    o Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic global environment

     

    • Administer custom built server and storage hardware at remote manufacturing sites, from imaging bare metal systems to debugging installation and operational issues.

    • Develop and fix Python scripts to support manufacturing testing in Linux environment.

    • Help train remote manufacturing test engineers and factory operators on how to use and administer the test framework. Document procedures and protocols.

    • Up to 20% travel might be required within USA and/or Mexico.

     

    Critical Requirements

    • Linux system administration experience.

    • 3+ years of hands on experience with Python development for Server, Storage, and/or Network testing.

    • Debug set up and test failures and root cause in the Linux environment.

    • Test execution experience in Linux environment using Open Source tools.

    • Remote test execution and debugging.

     

    Nice to Have

    • Database Administration (e.g. MySQL/PostgreSQL…)

    • POSIX storage Administration (e.g. NFS/Gluster/Ceph…)

    • Test planning and test case documentation to cover issues typically found in large DC environments is a big plus.

    • Experience debugging hardware (e.g. Electrical Engineering, PCB Troubleshooting)

    • Experience with manufacturing lifecycle working with CM/ODM/JDMs (e.g. Electrical Engineering PCB troubleshooting) *
