    REPORTS TO:      NATIONAL ACCOUNT MANAGER

    LOCATION:          ATLANTA, GA (HQ)

    POSITION MISSION/SUMMARY 

    The Sales Representative role is a vital tier in the Sales professional progression which plays an important role in our growth and business development efforts. This sales representative’s primary focus will be working with a large national account and provide support for all aspects of the business.

    As a Sales Representative you will represent Graphic Packaging International (GPI) completely and successfully in all interactions with the customer(s). Initiate and maintain long-term relationships with various functional groups at their specific account(s).  Work from company policies and objectives in a focused way to serve customers satisfactorily and profitably.  The ability to work with very little guidance and/or direction is essential. 

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Assist in managing a national account by working with various external customers and internal teams.
    • Maintain accurate, detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the potential of each stakeholder in the customer network.
    • Monitor and ensure quality customer service to customer in regards to on-time shipments, inventory and forecasting.
    • Supervise the qualification of new packages or package revisions for customer. Plan, attend, and track trials as required in GPI and customer(s) plants.
    • Provide technical assistance in resolving quality issues with GPI cartons at customer plants as needed by working with the internal service teams.
    • Investigate and resolve all customer complaints promptly. Evaluate source of problem and participate in the resolution process with all involved parties.
    • Develop relationships with internal teams (Operations, S&OS, Finance, I&D, Accounting, Legal) to assist with any requirements from the customer.
    • Build customer relationships and partnerships with the corporate and plant teams in their network through joint planning meetings and site visits.
    • Update sales manager on status of customers and support strategy goals by gathering customer needs to accomplish goals.
    • Track the quality performance of GPI plants supplying customer(s).
    • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual performance reviews.
    • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, etc. for growth opportunities for the customer.
    • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
    • Maintain a good working knowledge of technologies used in the packaging industry by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Provides historical records by maintaining records on customer sales.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years demonstrated sales experience in the folding carton industry, or equivalent combination or experience and education.
    • Strong proficiency in Windows-based programs, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
    • The ability to deal with a variety of customers, both internal and external, in a highly professional and diplomatic manner.
    • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Proven ability to quickly understand business functions to improve processes and operational workflow whether internally or externally.
    • Ability to introduce new packaging solutions to the market for new business opportunities.
    • The ability to organize and to make decisions within established guidelines and follow up and through on the right opportunities.
    • Excellent interpersonal, telephone, presentation, oral and written communication skills. 
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
    • Ability to persuade, negotiate and manage projects accordingly.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of company services/products/capabilities to customers through personal meeting and formal presentations.
    • Travel throughout geography and special events as needed. ~20-25%.
