    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The primary purpose and objective for this position is to perform Inspections, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs (ITM) to Life Safety Equipment, for established customers, on a scheduled basis.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conducting service calls.

    • Identifying equipment discrepancies.

    • Preparing accurate and timely Technician Worksheets (TWS) and reports.

    • Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing.

    • Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of all required documentation upon servicing equipment.

    • Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.

    • May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, LSI Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.

    • Providing customer service in the area of Inspecting, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs of  Life Safety Equipment. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose, Gas Detection Monitors, Respiratory Equipment, Fall Protection Equipment and Safety Shower / Eyewash Units

    • Basic knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties; i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, NFPA Guidelines and HNA SOP’s.

    • Exhibit safe work practices at all times.

    Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

            EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

    • High School or GED
    • Minimum 4 Certifications (manufacturer /state) in a fire protection  related field
    • Minimum 3 - 5 years related experience
    • Mechanically inclined
    • Strong communication skills
    • Able to provide assistance, advice and training to Vallen North America associates and plant personnel.
    • Coordinates warranty and repair transactional activity; oversees daily shipments and receipts; enters data into a database or other computerized system to maintain up-to-date records; retrieves stored information to respond to inquiries; seeks management advice on appropriate corrective action as necessary.
    • Tracks, reviews, and audits supplier/vendor performance.
    • Reviews, and assists with developing KPI reports.
    • Notifies leadership, suppliers, and/or vendors of part discrepancies in regards to production, appearance and/or quality.
    • Notifies leadership of any potential inventory or site supply shortages.
    • Ensures all parts are correctly identified.
    • Recognizes all component parts in assigned work cell.
    • May assist with machine maintenance duties as requested.
    • May assist with inspecting tools/equipment/products for defects, wear and tear; reports damage or wear to leadership.
    • Collaborates with the Quality Control and/or Engineering concerning quality issues.
    • Communicates leadership regarding machine priority and malfunction.
    • Reviews production orders leadership.
    • Works to standard assembly procedures as required.
    • Performs other related duties as requested.

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Work environment may not be temperature controlled; must have the ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments.
    • Must have the ability to work in dusty conditions.

    • May be required to pass forklift and/or other warehouse equipment certifications (written and/or driving).
    • Assigned work shifts may vary and/or rotate.
    • Overtime may be required; extended day, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
    • Must be able to handle and work physical inventory; required to lift up to 25 lbs or greater with assistance following standard operating and safety procedures. Other physical requirements including, regularly being required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
    • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are required.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience in the Inspection, Testing, Maintenance and Repair of Life Safety Equipment.
    • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen North America.
    • Maintain minimum productivity of 90% within 60 days.
    • Advanced Industry segment knowledge.
    • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
    • Commercial Drivers License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
    • Proficient with hand tools.
    • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Able to provide assistance, advice and training to Vallen North America associates and plant personnel.
