  • Responsibilities

    The COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST will support internal and external communications initiatives as a member of the larger Marketing & Communications team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, ambitious, outgoing, enthusiastic and a team player. They should be passionate about communicating Stamford Health’s programs and services with patients and the community, and equally passionate about keeping Stamford Health staff informed of organizational news and priorities, all while reinforcing the Stamford Health brand.

     

    MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • MEDIA RELATIONS
      • Maintains organizational media contact database.
      • Provides support for all PR reporting activities, which range from daily updates to formal Board reports.
      • Maintains the “Newsroom” section of Stamford Health’s external website.
      • Posts event listings in local media outlets.

       

      • INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
      • Monitors and reports on internal communications activities
        • Keep a running calendar of regularly occurring internal events and act as Communications Lead for these initiatives (Hospital Week, Nurses Week, etc.)
        • Keeps a running list of organizational recognitions and achievements for annual Celebration of Achievement, Accomplishments Brochure and other assets.
    • EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
      • Assists in the creation of content for special events such as slide decks for Country Club & Private School presentations, All Staff Town Hall meetings and other community events
    • BRANDING & CONTENT
      • Works with Communications and Marketing colleagues to ensure consistency in communications across all channels
      • Source content from MarComm Department colleagues and other teams throughout the organization to support internal communications and media outreach

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • B.A./B.S. or equivalent experience required preferably in Communications, Marketing or English.
    • 2-3 years of communications experience, healthcare preferred.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Display high degree of personal responsibility and integrity; demonstrates a positive, can-do, go-the-extra-mile attitude.
    • Strong communicator and creative thinker; strong analytic skills; social media, web and tech savvy.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint preferred; some basic graphic design skills a plus.
