  • Responsibilities

    STAMFORD HOSPITAL is seeking an individual to join the GENERAL/SURGERY department as a UC/CA HYBRID.  This is a Per Diem 

    Under the direct supervision of the registered nurse performs duties and responsibilities that pertain to both clinical and non-clinical tasks. This role provides support for the patient care areas and is deployed by nursing leadership in a capacity that meets the ongoing operational needs of the department.

    Schedule: Per Diem. Must be flexible to rotate all shifts but must be available on evenings and weekends.

    Required Skills

    1. Demonstrates Stamford Hospital’s service standards of excellence and the Planetree philosophy through patient centered interaction including but not limited to greeting individuals coming to the unit, providing directions, information and responding expeditiously to needs and requests.

    2. Manages the unit’s communication systems (phone, beepers, patient call bells, fax, etc.), to facilitate communication between members of the health care team and their clients.

    3. Facilitates patient throughput by ensuring coordination of key stakeholders specifically patient transport and environmental services under the direction of the nursing staff and leadership.

    4. Responds to patient care needs through operation of the nurse call system and interaction with patients and their families. Informs the registered nurse of patient and family needs and receives direction from the registered nurse in responding to these needs.

    5. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice of the clinical assistant under the supervision of the registered nurse as validated in their hospital based competency.

    Required Experience

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Certified from a CNA program and license in the state of CT
    • Enrolled in an accredited nursing program having completed at least one semester of clinical rotations
    • A graduate of a foreign nursing program, awaiting U.S licensure or working towards meeting the requirements for same
    • A graduate of an accredited nursing program, having failed board licensure (2 chances).
