  • Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the assigned Respiratory Care Supervisor, Administrative and Medical Director, the Respiratory Care Practitioner Trainee is responsible for the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the pulmonary system. Provides Respiratory Care to non-critical patients in the hospital. Training and services provided by this position are appropriate to patients of all age groups. Applies clinical respiratory judgment to implement a clinical respiratory program and maintains standards for professional respiratory practice in the clinical setting. Communicates necessary information and makes needed recommendations to the physician and nurses as appropriate.

    Required Skills

    1. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of routine procedures with critical thinking skills for both adults, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
    2. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
    3. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
    4. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
    5. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

    Required Experience

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    Must be enrolled in an approved CoARC Respiratory Therapy Program obtaining lecture and clinical experience from the beginning to the final semester.

     

    LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

    Registry by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and Texas Respiratory Care license obtained within 6 months of employment.

    Current CPR Certification.

      

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

    High School diploma or equivalent required.

    Enrolled in the final semester of an approved CoARC Respiratory Therapy Program pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy. .
