    GENERAL SUMMARY:

     Under the supervision of the Residential Supervisor, works directly with mental health adult individuals in developing their rehabilitation plan in CRRP.  The Residential Counselor will function in the capacity of a Team Leader overseeing the daily responsibilities of the Mental Health Worker, facilities’ maintenance and rehabilitation of the residents.  The Residential Counselor will assist the Residential Supervisor in providing orientation to new staff.

     Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the clients served.

    EDUCATION:

    High school diploma or equivalent required.

    College courses in the Humanities or Social Sciences preferred.

    Bachelor’s degree in Humanities/Social Sciences preferred.

     WORK EXPERIENCE:

     Two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric rehabilitation setting required.

    CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:

    Develops rehabilitation plans with the resident. Keeps accurate records for each resident in CRRP.  Maintains all Resident information and ensures it is the most recent data on the residents. Completes 30-day assessment on new admissions and routinely reassesses residents’ skills throughout their stay in CRRP. 

    Provides guidance to Mental Health Workers to ensure residents’ rehabilitation plans are followed and all established program and shift responsibilities are routinely completed. Supervise resident and staff responsibilities to ensure a clean and safe environment.

    Oversees the implementation of the residents’ Rehabilitation Plan, assuring rehabilitation experiences and facilitate a therapeutic atmosphere to support personal growth and progress on goals. 

    Maintains apartment life in a harmonious and as close to ‘normal’ environment as possible, free of tension and stress so that all residents can live together comfortably

    Participates in the referral and admission process in residential programs, as assigned. Explains, as assigned, all admission documentation to the new resident, which includes, but is not limited to: Service Agreement, Housing Lease, Initial Day Service Plan, Resident Rights and Grievance Procedure with receipt of house rules and identification card
