    Upbound staffing is focused on employment and created in partnership with the Autism Alliance of Michigan. We specialize in serving individuals with ASD or neurodevelopmental disorders and connecting them with employment opportunities. With this, we have professionals who will develop and support candidates throughout the hiring process, transition into work, and during the first year of employment to ensure a successful employment experience.

    Job Title: Production Inspection

    Location: Grand Rapids, MI

    Description: This inspection position is a critical member of the Quality and manufacturing team to ensure our customers receive the highest quality product possible.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Performs final inspection of completed products prior to release for shipment.

    • Performs setup verification and first article inspection as assigned in sub-assembly manufacturing areas.

    • Utilize and interpret blueprints for product inspection.

    • Assist manufacturing employees in maintaining the required quality standards.

    • Perform receiving inspection of designated purchased product (as assigned).

    • Execute product rejection process for in-process, final and incoming inspection.

    • Re-inspect purchased product returns to verify conformance.

    • Record internal product nonconformances in the appropriate data collection log.

    • Identify nonconforming product according to internal process.

    • Assist Quality Engineer and Manufacturing with problem investigation as required.

    • Performs system transactions as required for product nonconformance/rejection.

    • Support quality problem-solving and investigation as assigned by Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.

    • Support company safety, quality, and productivity objectives.

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • Minimum of 70% proficiency in Blueprint Reading, Gage Inspection, Math and Color Acuity.

    • Manufacturing experience preferred.

    • Understanding and knowledge of measurement devices preferred (calipers, micrometers, tape measure, reading measurement scale).

    • Basic computer knowledge including MS Office and Outlook.

     

     

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    • Detailed analytical skills and problem-solving to support product and process investigation.

    • Interpersonal interaction with all manufacturing and management team members.

    • Ability to Audit processes for compliance.

    • Proficient oral and written communication skills.

    • Ability to work regular and overtime schedule established by Supervision.

    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

    • Regularly prioritize activities based on daily schedules or urgency.

     

    Status: FT (1st Shift or 2nd Shift)

    Hours per week: 40

    REPORTS TO: Quality Engineer

    EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt (Union UAW Hourly)

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Standing / walking for entire shift excluding planned breaks or computer work

    • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

    • Able to move objects weighing over 75 lbs. to view critical characteristics during final inspection.

    • Able to twist, bend, stoop as needed.

    • Exposure to heat, dust, noise, and sudden loud sounds.

    • Safety glasses with side shields are required.

    • Hearing protection is required in specified areas.

    • Specialized training may be required (such as Hi-Lo).
