Job Title: Production 

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Description:

Operates several different types of machinery and tools to produce product and material that is needed for the Welding Department, Assembly Departments, and Parts Orders as required. These include, but are not limited to: Break Press, Drills, Saws, Benders, Grinders, and Vibratory Finish.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sets up and operates many different types of equipment in the Metal Fabrication Department.
• Assembles items as instructed by team leader or supervisor.
• Lifts raw materials and final products either manually or by using a hoist.
• Prioritizes orders according to work schedule or at Supervisor’s discretion.
• Works with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Provides a great level of attention to detail and focuses on the given task.
• Keeps work area clean and organized.
• Follows all safety rules and quality standards.
• Works in a fast-paced environment with fast changing priorities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years of machine operator experience required

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills
• Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass.
• Good understanding of quality control principals.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work regular schedules set forth by the Management team.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Twist, bend, and stoop as needed. Will be standing for entire shift.

Status: FT

Hours per week: 40 (1st shift and 2nd shift available)

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt (Union UAW Hourly)

Working Conditions:

• Standing for entire shift.

• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

• Able to twist, bend, stoop as needed.

• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations

that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal

protective equipment.

• Safety shoes are required.

• Safety glasses are required.

• Hearing protection required.
